Affordable Health Care Act Directly Affects College Students

A new amendment has been made to the Affordable Health Care act and it directly affects college students. Many colleges across the United States offer students a inexpensive health care option. The new amendment to the law will also require this insurance to live up to a few standards.

The new law would guarantee three things from the insurance provided through colleges and universities. First is that there will not be a cap placed on the amount of health benefits that students are able to receive. This means that they will not be denied a claim even if they have already been sick multiple times.

The second provision is that the insurance companies will not be allowed to drop students if they are sick but accidentally did not properly fill out application paperwork. The third provision is focused on pre-existing conditions. It states that companies will not be allowed to deny coverage due to pre-existing conditions if the student is under 19 years old.
