Health Insurance for College Students

There are new reforms in the works when it comes to health insurance and the estimated 3 million college students across the United States. These reforms would push universities and colleges across the states to provide health insurance options for their students. These plans would not be affected if the student was under 18 or already had a existing medical condition.

Since the new health care reform bill was passed by the Obama Administration, the laws on college student insurance had already changed. It is now required to live up to the standards that the rest of the health insurance world has to. However since little attention has been paid to college insurance, it has been found necessary to make amendments to the current policies.

The reforms will be available through the Health and Human Services Department for study and observation. Public discussion, comments and views on the amendments are welcomed and will be available through April 12, 2011.
